Reolink doorbell

i just got myself a reolink doorbell, however im having some issues getting it working with home assistant, when i go to developer settings can manually set the state to on the sensor button change from green to red to detect motion / visitor.

however when someone walks past or rings the doorbell it doesn’t detect the motion.

when i got the doorbell i turned it on installed the the app, updated it etc, added the integration, logged in and added it to the dashboard, have I missed a step for the sensors to work or is this a fault with the integration.

I don’t personally remember an app when setting up Reolink. I think the core integration is all that was needed. What app are you referring to?
If you mean the Reolink app on the phone, then that makes sense though, not an HA app.

So the problem you are seeing is you don’t see the device triggering the HA sensors?
I usually look in the integration screen that lists all the entities to make sure the ones you want are enabled, and then watch the right column where the activity is shown to see what happens when I walk out there and trigger it physically.

yep. i added all the default sensors to the dashboard to make sure they were working,

but even they weren’t detecting any motion, visitors ( when doorbell was rang ) etc.

so the doorbell is detecting like it should and send the notifications to my phone, but my issue is with the smart system integration. when someone walks by i get a notification, however the smart system ( home assistant ) does not trigger any alerts. and is only displayed as “clear” or “Unavailable” when there is actual movement

at 6:23pm there was a vehicle arriving ( the green 1 ) but nothing was detected and shows as clear

at 18:23:44 there was a person at the door, also not detected. and shows as clear on the system

even when they rang the doorbell my phone altered me and the chime played but again “visitor” alert didn’t play

spoke to reolink support and apparently i need a NVR such as a reolink home or equivalent for home assistant to track the sensors ( scan to shove more of their products at me or legit ? )

Legit. If you read the HA docs for the Reolink integration it’s also mentioned there

Here is a solution/workaround for you. When you are in that link scroll upwards and read the whole thread, you will hear from the developer for the integration that for the battery based doorbells without the hub these notifications do not work yet, but will work in an upcoming firmware release for the doorbell. (If you have the hub it will work but in a little while that won’t be required.) But as mentioned, my link shows how to make it work in the meantime.

thanks, ill have a look :), i was playing around with frigate as a possible workaround but i couldn’t get it to work either lol
