Replace solar inverter without loosing energy history

Hi,

i have a solar inverter (SMA) which I integrated in HA just fine.
But now it’s being replaced by another one (also SMA).

I’m afraid that deleting the old one will probably also delete the info and history of the old inverter.
Anyone has advice on how to proceed?
I also prefer having no errors on old inverter nog being reachable anymore

Thanks,
Marco

Why delete it? Just add your new one next to it.

I considered that.

But SMA integration keeps complaining about inverter not being reachable.
Don’t know the effect on HA of this.

I added my solar panels to my HA test environment. After some data is collected in the energy dashboard I will delete it to see if the history is kept or not.

I’ll let you know!

Sorry I forgot about this. But I just deleted the intergration in me test environment and restarted HA. The data stayed in my Energy dashboard.

Thank you. I will have a go and delete it.

First, deleting an entity or integration does not delete anything from history.

Second, if the new inverter has the same entity ids as the old one. It’ll just work.

So yes, write down the old entity names, delete the old one, add the new one and if necessary rename the entity ids to match.

I have a different experience. Deleting an integration with the entities of the old inverter completely wiped all history of the solar production related to that entity.

Tried the suggestion, changing the name/entity id - no luck, keeps indicating the old id is in use even after I renamed the original entity.

@mpi were you successful? If so which steps did you take and in what order?

Eg. Same issue here, ha continues to seek the old inverter (which is offline) - so keeping both on the dashboard is no solution in the case.

I do know that In 2023.4.1 the DB changed to allow you to rename an enitty_id without losing the history, I don’t understand the change yet, but it would not be surprising the existing tricks that used to work don’t any more.

Just keep the same entity ID names.

Not sure what you mean?

I have not performed any steps yet. Lack of time :frowning:

Will have a go hopefully soon (also with same id which I believe is contained in one of the files).
I have the plan to take a backup before
