Replacing Energy entities

Hi there,
it’s a while since I had to post any question here - and I am not sure If posts from 2023 are still valid nowadays…

I am in the Progress of replacing multiple zigbee plugs with a Shelly Power strip.
I would Like to move the statistics from the old plugs to the new Strip - and then, use the plugs again in different Locations.

Has anything Changed in the process?
Removing the old device, Change the entity ID of the new one to the ID of the old one - And then, add the plugs again as a new device, right?

Or is there already an easier way to do this?

Hi,

No, as far as I know this procedure is correct and there is no other way right now.

  1. Copy entity id of the old device
  2. Remove old device
  3. Add new device
  4. Edit new device and paste the old entity id as replacement for the entity id

Didn’t test this! Maybe wait for an extra confirmation :wink:

Before you do that, I suggest you search these & Shelly’s forums. There’s multiple reports of the power strip flooding the zigbee network.

No idea if it’s been fixed yet since I don’t own one. Just wanted to give you a heads up to avoid issues

It is a matter / wifi version - which is hopefully working better in that regards :slight_smile:
