[Request] Add support for Matter 1.3 Water Management

Matter 1.3 Water Management

Matter 1.3 introduces Water Management

Water Management — Support for leak and freeze detectors, rain sensors, and controllable water valves provide homeowners with enhanced monitoring, management, and protection over water in and around their homes.

Currently, there is a Matter cluster discovery issue. The water leakage sensor is recognised as an contact sensor.

I don’t believe this is fixed. Just bought a Zigbee/Matter hub hoping to see my leak sensors in Home Assistant. They default to door (binary sensor). Can change to Moisture sensor, but they read as Wet by default instead of Dry.

Since these are coming across as Matter devices, I can’t find a way to edit the YAML to change the setup. Anyone have any ideas. Google shows lots of GitHub comments about this issue and there are a few mentions in threads on this site, but I haven’t seen any solution or workaround.

I can confirm that it works. I took part in the validation tests.
I think it’s the way it’s implemented that the leakage sensor isn’t compatible with Apple Home and Google Home.

@TigerAlum: Unless your Matter bridge is also v1.3, it seems unlikely the sensors are bridged to HA as water sensors.

As a temporary fix you can always create a template binary water sensor that sets its state based on the (opposite of) the bridged Matter door sensor.

Here is an example:
