Reset Backup Entries?

Hi,

I used to do backups through command line (ha backup command). The files are stored in /usr/share/hassio/backup

Now my “real” backup solution backed up this folder and I did a restore on it.

For some reason my GUI (Settings → System → Backup) just displays a turning circle and never displays the available backups. “ha backup list” shows them, though.

I would like to delete all files there and reset the backup counter. How to do? Where are the entries stored?

Thanks!

Do not delete the .tar backup files. Copy them to a thumb drive.

You don’t indicate how your Home Assistant is installed, but mine is the x86 HAOS image. The files are in a folder on the root: /backup

Your problem could be simply not enough storage space. Delete a couple of the older .tar files and try again.

I did not. I removed them from the folder (and indeed stored them on a different place). But that’s not the point.

Missed that, but I stated the files are at /usr/share/hassio/backup so it is a supervised installation based on Debian12.

No way. For sure enough disk space. All backups together use aprox. 4G:

Dateisystem Größe Benutzt Verf. Verw% Eingehängt auf
udev 1,9G 0 1,9G 0% /dev
tmpfs 392M 1,4M 391M 1% /run
/dev/mapper/hoas--vg-root 82G 14G 64G 18% /
tmpfs 2,0G 0 2,0G 0% /dev/shm
tmpfs 5,0M 0 5,0M 0% /run/lock
tmpfs 4,0M 0 4,0M 0% /sys/fs/cgroup
/dev/vda1 455M 53M 378M 13% /boot

Further ideas?

Hi,

I just discoverd the solution. So easy. There seems not to be another place where information about backups are stored.

After I removed all files (and stored them on a different place) AND rebooted the machine (not only HoAssistant) it shows me the empty backups and I can easily create new backups.

Loks like on of the *.tar files is corrupted somehow.

No worries, for a couple of days I will have only small sets of backup but that’s fine with me.
[EDIT] Finally found the correct solution:
ha backup reload

Why not do a full backup now? (I use the Samba Share add-on to do a full backup every morning at 1:00 AM).
