Am brand new to Home Assistant and am stuck with trying to integrate Honeywell Resideo-based thermostats… Is the route to take using Honeywell Lyric, through the complicated Apple HomeKit and bridge, or what’s the best way to integrate Honeywell T6 and T9 thermostats that are WiFi-enabled and visible on Resideo? Thank you!
I have my t9 integrated through homekit which is local. The honeywell lyric integration is cloud based.
Can’t speak for T9s, but I have two T6s that work pretty well through the HomeKit integration without a bridge.
Years ago, I couldn’t get the Honeywell integration to work before I tried HomeKit.
Thanks! I would prefer HomeKit as an option but the directions I find are confusing. I managed to add a HomeKit bridge HASS Bridge:21064 but do I need to add the T6 using the iPhone Apple Home app or how do I add the T6 as an “accessory” or however it’s called? I tried putting in the HomeKit hard-coded ID of the T6 but it didn’t recognize it (I did clear out any old code from the T6 beforehand).
Please point me to some directions that actually succeed in establishing the connection! (P.S. I also have some T9 thermostats, as well, which should work the same way).
It should just show up on the integration page. Try disconnecting it from power for a minute and then powering it back up. Then check the integration page.
Thanks for the quick reply. Try disconnecting what, the T6? If so, I tried that to no avail. I juat see the HomeKit Bridge HASS Bridge:21064.
Try on the integration page to add a homekit device. See if it shows then. Also the filter top right of the integration page select “show ignored integrations”
Aha… now I see three “TSTAT-XXXXX -Bridge)” entries. Not sure which is which. I should see in theory 3 T9 and 2 T6 units, altogether. But I have not done the HomeKit reset on any of the T9s yet, so maybe it just happened to find one?
I tried the code that showed up in the notification area as well as the hard-wired code on all three instances with no success when I tried adding the device. ![]()
Do I keep the configured device just labeled “HomeKit Bridge” which I am guessing is some sort of master entity that allows other devices to be incorporated under it?
I only use HomeKit with HA, so I don’t use HomeKit bridge.
Instead I just use the HomeKit device integration.
I added the T9 thermostat to HA using this integration.
Thanks much, I will try that. I was able to get the one T6 to integrate into the iPhone Apple Home app, but now it won’t show in HA. I will try deleting the bridge and everything else ans start from scratch. It did help to reset the HomeKit setting on the T6 and hold the iPhone close. It did display a different code, which I used to connect to Apple Home. But now, HA won’t pick it up since it says it’s already associated with another device. I see now I will have to remove it from Apple Home, so rhat clarifies at least that one issue. Thanks again!
Yay, the trick of adding and deleting the device from Apple Home worked, and the T6 generated a new code after the reset, which HA picked up. ANd indeed, no HomeKit Bridge needs to be involved.
I will try this with the other thermostats now. I will ignore those other odd devices it found from opening up the “ignored integrations.” Thanks so very much for your help!
Now, on to mastering the scripting, actions, etc.
One quick set of questions: Will there be an issue since the code is different from the hard-coded one and in case of a power failure, will the new code be preserved? Are there any other such concerns to be aware of? Thank you.
My experience with the T9 is that a power failure doesn’t cause the thermostat to lose its HomeKit code and HA is still connects to it without any issues.
Same with the T6s - especially important when you have your HVACs/Furnaces serviced twice a year and the power is turned off for that.
