Hi there,
I started my home-data project running on a proxmox server ~6 months ago and at this time set up a 32 GiB virtual disk for HAOS. It worked quite well so I added some time later a 1 TB WD Red - at this point in time I thought this would suffice for a couple of webcams I wanted to add via Frigate - and created one single virtual disk on this SSD which I added as data partition.
Now with some more thoughts on my final setup (which will include 8-10 webcams, which is way beyond the capacity of this single SSD and needs additional hard disk drives) I came to the conclusion that my data partition is wasting a lot of space which I can make better use of for other vms / virtual disks. So my question is now how to reduce the virtual disk used for HAOS (including data) to only 500 GiB [still overkill for only collecting a couple of sensor data but thus I guess at least future proof].
I read several threads on this topic and the conclusion in pretty much all cases was to use backup and restore.
Now what is not really answered is if the following is possible:
- backup from the current configuration virtualdisk1 system + virtualdisk2 data
- restore to one single virtualdisk 3 (system + data) - this “add additional disk for data” does not make any sense at all for a proxmox setup as far as I found out and I want to lower my setup-complexity.
Could somebody comment on that?
Thanks - at least for reading,
