Restore backup when onboarding gives unknown error

My main HA system runs on an O-droid XU system, and I want a test system identical to my main system, to experiment with new things before configuring them in the main system.
So I installed HA in Virtualbox on my laptop.
Both systems have the same sw version, 2025.2.5
During the onboarding, I choose restore backup, but immediately, I get a message:
Failed to start restore. Un known error.

How can I restore this backup ?

The backup file I use, is yesterdays full backup, and I downloaded it via the browser from my main system.
My system just made a fresh backup, but when I try to restore it to the VM HA system via onboarding, I get the same error, so this probably rules out file corruption.
The Google backup integration from HACS is installed and configured to make regular backups on my Google drive.
I followed these instructions to create the VM, during the VM boot, I saw nothing special happening, it started very quick.

I have the same error

I think there may be 2 reasons why it did not work.

  1. I saw somewhere that there is a bug in the onboarding backup uploading
  2. The filename may be too long

I was able to put a backup in a freshly installed test HA that runs in a Virtualbox VM, by not taking the onboarding restore, but by setting up HA in a basic way, and add the samba addon, and then copying a backup file that I downloaded from my main system that runs on an O-droid board, to the backup directory
