Restore not working, seems like passphrase and encryption do not match

Hello,
deciding to upgrade the the most recent version of HA from sd card of my RPi4 to a bigger one I made a backup to my nfs server. The resultng tar looks ok. So with fresh install during onboarding I uploaded the backup-tar file and after entering the passphrase HA shows “Restore failed unknown error”
I tried with older backups but same error.
I then tried with former installation on old sd card to create new credentials and a new backup file. But when I try to restore this, the “Restore failed unknown error” is thrown again.
So I downloaded the "Home Assistant Backup Decryption Tool " from here: GitHub - sabeechen/decrypt-ha-backup: Decrypts password protected Home Assistant Backups
to check if the gz files with in the tar are ok. Turns out the tool cannot decrypt any of the backup files with their corresponding passphrase.
Seems like backup encryption and passphrase do not match, even if they are created the same time
Might this be a bug?

I set up a new Home assistant on my pi3 and wanted to move to a pi4 today, cannot restore the backup.

Same error message.

I spent weeks setting it up to replace my iobroker today and now this…

No specific solution but why not try an unencrypted backup? About once a week I restore a backup from x86 to rpi3 with no issues.

…because in recent HA versions it seems there is no option for unencryted backups anymore

Yes there is

Known problem. On the onboarding screen, create a dummy user, then upload your backup in
settings → system → backups, and restore from there.
