Hello, Im trying to restore a backup from my NAS with HAOS installed into a fresh docker installation but I get a 500 Internal Server Error Server got itself in trouble.
Does this happen because Im trying to restore into a docker?
I already restored some backups to the same machine but never tried to a docker.
Well I cant restore only files in config folder, cause I have to use the frontend function “restore form backup”.
How do I do? Just copy paste in config docker folder?
Well extract backup somewhere else and browse it. I don’t know what is in that backup file.
Home assistant files and subdirecotries should be in ~/config/* dir. You can try copy paste those files on directory that you mounted as config in docker.
But I don’t say that it will work. As in docker all addons are in separate containers.
Well maybe it is not compatible. I use my local backup server for containers and other backups. If i messed something up that is usually to restore one or two files.
I switched to docker a few years ago. Before that I was using supervised on debian. Mostly I done it from scratch. I used backup to see how I done some automations but as I progressed I saw that there are better solutions and that I done a lot of automations individually that could be set up as a single automation.
And there is one thing that I do like about duplicati as backup agent.
You can set it up to send you e mail after every backup it done. If something is wrong you will be notified. And this is something that I do like. I dont know if something like that even exist in ha built in backup solution.
Not super usefull send an email, more helpful send a notification.
HA has the built in function to send notification and you can send a notification when built in backup failed. I already did months ago.
Anyway isn’t still clear to me what a backup includes. Im gonna dig
I prefer email but I think that you can add other notifications. I have a lot of other notifications from home assistant on my phone and I dont need another.
Probably gonna remove majority of them.
