Restoring HA from Apple Time Machine to a new Mac

I have a working home assistant set up on a Mac mini via utm with zwave zigbee dongle if I make a full Time Machine back up of my current Mac Then restore to a new Mac mini will that work easily ?
My old Mac mini has 8 gigs 4 allocated to HA
I’d like to get an new mini With 16 to allocate 8 to HA

Thanks

Maybe, it depends… but i would 100% make a HA backup first. If you power off the VM before and during the TM backup then restoring the file/folder should work fine. Powering off the VM first is key to be sure anything important in the VM ram is written to disk so TM can back it up. This also limits any potential for corruption of the VM.

If your moving from Intel to M series the VM CPU architectural will change as well. Back up, build a new VM on the new CPU architecture and restore is your best option.

I’ll be going from m to m processor home assistant is in a VM ucm the only issue I find online I may have is the usb zig zwave dongle may be added differently. And up address of the new Mac may change.
