RGB ZigBee controller with high color precision recommendations?

I recently purchased MiBoxer 5 in 1 RGB controller for my RGB led strip and it's fairly terrible. I set it to RGB mode and paired it over HUE bridge and color control precision is awful. Box says that it supports "16 million colors" but i genuinely feel like setting 8 bit color palette. When using RGB color picker it seems to jump over some predefined colors and there's not a lot of them so as a result I'm really struggling to set color that i want.

I'm aware that RGB stripes are not perfect but CRI is most likely not much of an issue for me because i have completely black and white home (literally, everything here is #FFF or #000 and whole house is designed to be colored by light so there's a lot of RGB). I also know it's not led strip issue because MiBoxer controller animates fade between colors and it often briefly fades through exact color that i want, but i can't just set it statically :T

When using it in white mode (cold-warm white) it can display colors that cannot be picked in RGB mode (and tbh they're absolutely terrible as well).

All in all I'm extremely disappointed with this controller and I'm looking for something significantly better, preferably something allowing for callibration to my particular led strip gamut. I was already really disappointed with IKEA bulbs color precision but this controller is another level of terrible lol.

I just use these cheap PWM Zigbee controllers from Amazon (e.g GIDEALED Smart ZigBee 3.0 LED Controller 5 in 1,Require ZigBee Hub Bridge for RGBWW RGBW RGB CCT COB LED Strip Light Dimmable 1%~100%,Support Hub APP/Alexa Echo Plus Voice Control Color Changing - Amazon.com ) and they are smooth and pair right up to ZHA.

However, could the Hue bridge be the issue? Have you considered using HA with a dedicated coordinator?

I wondered if that could be the case but it's hard to verify. I only have comparison hue bulb vs ikea tradfri vs this led strip, all cases paired over hue bridge because i don't have ZigBee radio for HA. And while IKEA bulb is not great and colors jump as well it still has much-much better variety than miboxer. I believe tradfri jumping is mostly noticable because ikea bulbs don't animate fade between colors so they just change instantly and thus i can see it's not 100% smooth transition. But it's more than bearable and I don't struggle with color matching all that much there. Unlike that miboxer. Something that scares me away a bit is that all those LED controllers look exactly the same and feel like they're all just the same Chinese OEM rebranded 6000 times lol... Though at leaat one that you linked has 2 buttons instead of one so it may be a bit different design.

Yeah, the controller housings are literally identical to my esp32 WLED one, but different mfg and label HAHA

Now, I've never used Hue bridge, but I have a feeling it is likely that...for this exact reason.

which actually bodes well, since the software is likely very similar between yours and the one I linked, which I have like 6 of

Now, if you are happy with HA and can do the automations you need there, I would recommend a native ZHA install using either a direct USB coordinator like Amazon.com: SONOFF Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus-E Gateway, Universal Wireless Zigbee USB Adapter with Antenna for Home Assistant, Open HAB, Zigbee2MQTT etc : Electronics or if you need it to be far away from HA, Amazon.com: SMLIGHT SLZB-06 - Zigbee 3.0 to Ethernet,USB,and WiFi Gateway Coordinator with PoE,Universal Gateway for Home Assistant/ Zigbee2MQTT/ZHA,Wireless Zigbee 3.0 USB Adapter : Automotive
