If I integrate ring stick up cameras, is the stream coming only from the cloud or can I use a local connection?
Background is, that I usually setup cloud devices in a guest wifi, instead of the main wifi, to prevent communication between untrusted devices in my LAN. But sometimes, internal communication is faster, when not using a cloud. And the ring cloud is insanely slow.
There are currently 6 cams running around my home. It would be really expensive, to exchange all these cams with reolink. I never thinked about reolink before I invested in the ring system. But after I researched what they do, this sounds like a good idea. Mostly because of the local storage. From what I have read, I can use sd card and ftp to save the videos. I don’t like the sd card, because the card and/or camera could be stealed. But ftp is also no good idea as long it is ftp and not sftp or nfs, but better than nothing.
