RPI4 Switch from SD to SSD

I have been trying to switch to SSD. I found 2 different documents telling how to do this. I ordered the cable (StarTech 2.5″ SATA to USB 3.1 Adapter) and SSD (Crucial BX500 480GB 2.5inch SSD drive) that were recommended. I used raspberry pi imager to update the firmware on my pi. Then used it to put HA on the SSD. My full backup is almost 500mb. If I use the restore from backup on the first screen it just sits there. It says could take up to 45min but I have let it sit for 1hr and it never finishes. If I try to make a new account then restore the backup I can not finish making a new account. It gets stuck on the screen when I select my country and says something about timezone not right. Any thoughts on what I’m doing wrong.

Especially about refreshing your browser and the note about what happens if you used SSL for HA.

Have tried refreshing multi times. I’ve made sure it has the https and still nothing(even tho it disappears when I hit enter). If I power cycle the rpi it goes back to the main screen. If I try to make a login first I get this warning and can not go any farther.

I believe either your HA installation is faulty or you did not wait long enough for the initial restore process to complete. It might take much longer than 1 hour. Which raspberry pi version are you using?

Version b 8gb. Okay I will let it try longer next time.

My backup is around 380G and it takes nearly 2 hours to restore from SSD to SSD. There does seem to be a need for some sort of progress monitor. I use iotop to watch it but I am not running a supported installation. ie Raspberry PI OS.

Finally got it. Had to used my saved link in my browser. The default https://homeassistant.local:8123 would not connect. Took about 2.5 hrs.
