Hello Everyone,
Firstly what a great project and community. So many clever people happy to share and help others.
I have begun my Home assistant journey and already have my HVAC sorted amongst a couple of other things. Big Aussie presence here obviously as Advantage Air is supported. I also have Rinnai touch ducted heater operational in Home Assistant via home bridge. Big shout out to all of those who worked to get these integrations working so easily.
I have searched the forums and other sites and can’t seem to find a solution that covers my exact circumstance .
I have a whole house lighting system “HPM Icontrol” that can be controlled via RS232.
I currently have an itach IP2SL on the network and have the system working in IRULE.
Home Assistant is running on virtual box virtual machine on an old Mac mini.
I am after some assistance as where to start trying to get this lighting system integrated. There are so many options I am honestly at a loss where to start.
With regards to pyhiscal connection is it better to use the itach IP2SL (which isn’t officially supported in HA) or use a USB to serial adapter?
Groups are used to control lighting fixtures and give feedback to wall switches that contain a status LED. The wall switches have the ability to dim the lights by pressing and holding.
The following example Set Group 21 to 100% over 5 seconds, carriage return. S_GR,21,100,50
When a group is changed on the network a message is reported in following format R_GR,21,100,50
Scenes can be triggered and reported in a similar manner also
S_SC,10,0
R_CS,10,2
I would appreciate any advice as to the best approach on this. Is there an existing integration that could be modified to suit or is it best to start fresh in the Yaml configuration file. How to best approach lights groups? Any Yaml examples would be great to help me start.
Sorry for the long post but hopefully there is enough information contained within to be of use.
Currently in quarantine but have remote access to the Mac mini. I can use my security cameras to see my progress and confuse the kids.
Thanks DrNick
