When i go into network sharing in windows 10, I can’t see the Pi.

Can anyone please help? I am new to linux / pi / hass.io and suprised and dissapointed I’m having problems at such a trivial early step.

Fixed problem it was related to my main pc on the network not be able to see the Pi share. Not sure why, as another computer can see it.

Did you do something to fix it on your main pc? In the same boat here.

I just typed

//hassio/

in the address bar and it started working.

Do you have Windows file and printer sharing turned on?

WTF every time I change my config I restart and my config snaps back to its previous state. Doesn’t work… even a little. Uninstalled.

Did you save the SAMBA config?

Was it red or black when (if) you saved it?

did you set a username and password?

yeah nothing. I figured it was a mac deal and deleted it. Just going to do my configs over git.

SOLVED
Hello, I just wanted to setup SAMBA share service on my HASSIO RPi and I was facing similar issue.
Service is running there was no error in the configuration of SAMBA, but I was not able to connect.
I guess there is a bug in the addon.
Solution is, you must configure same username and password as you have in windows. So, if you put different user name and password in the configuration of addon, windows 10 21H2 will not ask for credentials.

So if someone is facing same problem, just use same credentials as on windows PC.

No, this is not necessary. You can map a connection with different credentials.

Hello Tom,
yes it is also solution, but usually windows will popup window to insert credentials. For example with samba on RPi or another windows PC. I don’t need to have permanently mapped drive for HA, so for me is better solution to have same pwd as windows user. I only wanted to write some info, for case if someone will face similar problem as me. Because if windows is not asking, I was guesing samba is not working.
