Scenes turning another off when devices shared

Greetings.

I’m coming from a fairly extensive ISY and Alexa controlled ecosystem.

I’ve been working with Home Assistant, Homebridge, and a few other plug-ins mostly with the focus to have access via HomeKit, but am exploring the possibilities beyond that with Home Assistant

I’m struggling with the concept of scenes I’m used to and how Home Assistant implements them.

For example, I have a scene for cooking within my kitchen, and a scene for Night Kitchen.
These two ISY scenes share entities and when controlled by Alexa simply change light levels when either is implemented

In Home Assistant, I’m finding if there are any overlapping devices one scene turns it on the second scene, turns everything off rather than adjusting brightness levels and such.

Am I approaching this incorrectly? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What do you mean overlapping devices?

(im asking because if like to see how you’re constructibg a scene)

A scene is no more than a collection of settings executed together. But if you have an entity listed with zero brightness in the second scene it will absolutely do it so a little more detail about the two scenes please.
