I have Scolmore ClickSmart+ switches of various types and I know that they’ve got “night lights” built in to them. I use them because they’re certified and the immersion heater is the full 3kW at 230v, so I wanted to use something which was properly certified for the loads of the heaters. A lot of my wall sockets are also the same system.
It seems that they are turning their night lights on and I’ve got no clue how or when. When I first installed them a year ago, that option was there in the device control, but this morning I notice that the night light has come on, on one of the units, and the ability to control it has gone from the device in HA. No clue when that happened.
I don’t know what to do about this and I’d be grateful for advice please.

I think I’m going to have to contact Scolmore to bottom that out, if it’s an error with the socket, but I can’t think what error it could be. I’ll drop them a line and see what they say.
I received the following. Basically, the functions are there and it looks like the power cuts are responsible for the orange LED coming on of its own accord. So the lock function could be returned to the integration… but as the LED is behaving oddly, that might have been something from the integration causing it to turn on, even though it has been removed from the code. I’ve asked them if they can engage with the Open Home Foundation or Koenkk to improve things. Not sure whether they will or not.
In the mean time, power cycling that heater at the fuse board has resolved the orange light.

The Orange indicator light does not mean that your product is faulty, this would indicate that the product in question has been locked via the app & therefore will not switch via the physical switch on the product.
You mention that the lockable option on the Home Assistant App has been removed & there are 2 options that can reset a locked Socket / Spur.
The first would be via the App, which we know can’t be done, the 2nd would be to power down the units from the consumer unit & powering up again.
Looking again at the sockets, the double socket seems to have child lock and backlight strength control. The single socket has only the child lock and the 13a fused switch has neither. - Also backlight mode seems to have no effect on the double socket.
Because, like I explained earlier, backlight mode never worked. Whoever reported the issue only did it on the fused switch. It was removed from there but forgotten in the double socket.
I also suggest you try enabling this & testing if it works. I suspect it was also implemented incorrectly in the single socket. If it does work, you should raise an issue on Z2M GitHub so it’s tested against the other models & rolled out again once confirmed.
Well, all three are different to each other.
The backlight mode doesn’t work on the white LED, but it’s possible that it works on the orange LED… but as the orange LED serves communication purpose, I can’t see the sense in overriding it to find out.
The lock works perfectly and the three flashes detailed in the manual, actually get the white led to flash three times, not the orange LED.
It seems that the orange LED is only used for pairing indication.
