Search for a 55x55 wall thermostat (Zigbee/Matter) for water underfloor heating (230V)

Hello everyone,

I am looking for smart home thermostats for my water underfloor heating (230V actuators).

The biggest problem is the form factor: The thermostats must fit into the standard European 55x55 mm grid, as they are to be integrated into my existing Busch-Jaeger frames. Unfortunately, all the clunky 86x86 blocks are completely out of the question. That’s why the Bosch thermostat, which is so often recommended, is also eliminated.

My setup and requirements:

Protocol: Zigbee is preferred (via Zigbee2MQTT), alternatively Thread or Matter. I don’t want to add another protocol (like Homematic IP or Z-Wave) to my setup.

Control: 100% local in Home Assistant, without cloud.

Quality/price: I am looking for a good price-performance ratio. Affordable, but it should be solid, reliable stuff (not unstable no-name junk).

I have already found two options:

ENGO Controls E55

Heatit Zig Therm

Do you have any other insider tips or experience with devices that fit exactly into the 55 frames and run stably in Home Assistant? I’m really desperate in my search… :smiling_face_with_tear:

Thank you for your tips or ideas!

LG

Zigbee thermostat from aqara

(Sorry for the Dutch, but search for aqara)

That one is also 86x86.

Why not have a look at the Z2M supported devices page? Looks like the Danfoss will be perfect for you, though three may be others which are more suitable.

The models listed in the Z2M page seem to point towards the battery versions, but their product sheet also mentions 24v &230v versions. https://assets.danfoss.com/documents/latest/97010/AD199986477877en-020401.pdf

Right. That’s the problem; everything I look at is 86x86…

But the approach of checking the Z2M device page is really genius. Thanks!

Don’t bother buying any device until you’re sure it’s supported in Z2M. You’ll end up having to write a custom converter, where a different choice would have saved you the hassle.

Ask me how I know…

That sounds like something I’d totally do! At least you’d be contributing to the community in the end. :joy:

I use Homematic IP, but they have their own RF protocol ø, so not Zigbee.
Homematic IP is pretty well integrated into HA with RaspberryMaric as a CCU3 Hub emulation in the form of a HA addon/app. You only need a cheap RF stick as hardware to set the central part up.
Their wall thermostats are pretty small.

It seems that the Schuko standard also use those measurement, so add that word to your Google searches.

I found something here (4th picture).

Those Homematic IP thermostats would be perfect, but I already have a Zigbee stick and a Thread stick, so adding a third RF protocol would be a last resort. But that one:

Looks pretty good. Now I only have to find out the price… I’ll definitely add it to my list. Thanks!
