"Seeking Advice: Automating Smart Playlists from Local Library on Sonos via Home Assistant"

I’m looking for advice on how to use my local music library for a shuffled smart playlist on my Sonos system. I enjoy having background music throughout the day and want to keep it fresh without relying solely on Spotify. My setup includes Home Assistant, Plex, Music Assistant, a Roon server, and Sonos, all linked to a shared drive with thousands of local tracks in various genres.

Is there a way to create an automation in Home Assistant that plays a random instrumental jazz track from my local collection at the push of a button? While Roon’s “focus” feature is great, it doesn’t seem like the bookmarks are available via API. Music Assistant looks promising, but I haven’t found a smart playlist feature.

Does anyone know of a Roon plugin or a Home Assistant Community Store (HACS) integration that could help? It feels like a waste not to utilize my extensive local music library.

Sounds as if the Sonos playlists are not long enough for you?

The playlists are long enough and are set to repeat. It is more about trying to keep the playlist fresh by trying other tracks in the local library. :slightly_smiling_face:
