I just started with home assistant. I have searched for an answer to my question but I can’t find a clear answer.
I am grid tied but grid in breaker is off until needed. My batteries are charged to 100% daily. My house runs on battery at night.
My question is why is the calculation showing less than 100%?
Short answer: Home Assistant is almost certainly not actually measuring “100% battery capacity used vs available”—it’s estimating based on sensor data that has losses, rounding, and sometimes incomplete inputs. So seeing something like 92–98% when you expect 100% is very normal.
If it were that I can understand it. Please look at the attached screenshot. I’m 100% solar today I generated 19.2kw but it says that I used way more.
I think I solved my own puzzle. I deleted all the grid items and then added back grid energy in. Tomorrow I’ll see how it goes. Please see the new screenshot after the changes.
