Smoke Sensor: Photoelectric
CO Sensor: Electochemical
MSC-1 is designed and certified according to European safety standards:
EN14604 for smoke alarms
EN50291 for carbon monoxide alarms
Has a 10 year life span with the CR123A battery needing replacement every 2-3 years.
Contrary to the MS-1 it doesn’t have a dual battery system, which is interesting.
Shipping takes a bit longer to arrive than the MS-1.
In Home Assistant it exposes te following sensors with firmware 1.4.0-0
I got two units myself and one of the units does not expose the Carbon monoxide sensor to HA. Have reached out to Sensereo and will let you know what their response is.
The self-test worked like a charm in HA. Better than the MS-1 which I’ve ran into a problem of the sound being muted and unable to change this.
Got a reply from Sensereo support regarding the missing entity in Home Assistant.
We checked with our test engineers, and during previous batch testing we occasionally observed similar behavior in a Home Assistant environment. Based on our experience, this may be related to the current Home Assistant environment rather than a hardware issue.
Could you please try the following steps:
Remove the affected MSC-1 completely from Home Assistant.
After removing it from HA, perform a full reset on the device.
Once reset is completed and the device is back in pairing mode, try adding it again.
Sometimes a clean removal plus a full device reset can resolve this type of issue.
Following these steps the missing entity was now visible. And the issue was solved.
To reset your device follow the steps as stated in the manual:
Make sure the device is powered-up.
Keep the rear power switch in the ON position.
Press and hold the Test/Mute button on the top of the device. Release the button immediately after three beeps.
Alarm LED will begin flashing green – indicating the device has reset and is ready for pairing.
