Sensor for 24v gate output

I wanted to add a sensor to the state of our gates. I can’t use the inputs to determine the state as they can be opened in lots of ways, but there is an output for a signal lamp which is 24v 3w. So, I’m looking for a sensor which will just tell me if the input has 24v on or not. I thought I could use a shelly uni but that only seems to allow dc on its analog input. Any ideas?

24V AC? Sure of it?

That’s what the doc says, but it’s odd for sure. I’ll measure it tomorrow just in case.

If you have 24VDC, it’s easier. However for AC you could use AC input optocoupler or some 24V light bulb and LDR or some ready made HA compatible device with Lux sensor.

Sadly, it’s AC - weird, and annoying but at least the doc was correct I guess.

Not a big problem, many safe solutions still for it, like those I mentioned before, or 24vac coil relay, rectifier…

Yep - just going down the bridge rectifier route and then try the Shelly. Shame there’s no native AC solution, but hey ho.

That’s probably the most difficult way…
By the way, if you can find Shelly Uni, not Plus, I think it can take 24AC inputs…
