If you’re using the HA companion app, there’s a “Beacon Monitor” sensor that I think should work, but I don’t know if it exists on iOS.
I had a look in the HA app but I don’t think there’s an option to monitor the beacon in ios. too bad…
I finally got a chance to test you latest code today but it returns a state of “unknown”. I think I’ll just leave well enough alone and not attempt this additional “escape” trigger, I feel I’m pushing my luck with this one and it could take a lot of work on your behalf, speaking of, why don’t you shoot me your email address and I’ll gladly send you some money for a case of beer as promised LOL I really appreciate the help you given!

Hey, Ted. Have you played around with PushCut for iPhone? It’s an app that can react pretty well to iBeacon proximity and trigger iPhone shortcuts.
The only problem is that it requires human intervention (click the OK button when it notifies that a shortcut is about to be triggered) unless you install a “server”…which sounds complicated but actually is just an “always on and always home” Apple device such as an iPad or old iPhone.
I tried it about a year ago, and it seemed workable. Not sure what the current state is, but you might give it a try.
