Just wondering if there are an easy ways to use HA using voice commands while at home on same wifi as HA?? I have searched, but seems like only way is setting up port forwarding and such? Sorry, I’m a newb with HA. Looking for an answer.

The HA voice PE is voice device meant for use with the local voice pipeline for HA
I guess I mistakenly assumed my local Google home devices could be used to communicate to HA. I was looking for something free. Appreciate the reply

The official Google Home Integration requires port forwarding. There is a way to integrate locally, no port forwarding or remote access required:
Note: it does not prevent you from using voice commands to operate your home while you are away, which is what you seemed to ask in your original post. It does not ONLY work when you are at home, Google will send the command to your home and execute it there. The devices you will expose to Google Home will in effect be accessible anywhere by any one with access to your Google Home, because Google Home is cloud based.
Set up a voice assist pipeline and you can speak to your phone from HA app. It works wherever the app works.
