I have a Rheem heat pump hot water heater, and I’m trying to adjust its temperature based on the amount of excess solar power my home is generating. Generally, over here, temperatures are measured using the archaic Fahrenheit scale, but even though I have HA configured for this, the maximum temperature is 100, so I’m assuming something is hard-coded for Celsius. I’m assuming I should put in Celsius temperatures or will I just end up with cold water?
You might need to file a bug report on whatever integration you are using.
How odd the temperature set if you don’t use HA? Is there a mobile phone app or a display on the water heater? I would just set the temperature in HA to 100 and then go look at the display/app/whatever and see what the temperature changes to.
I have done this, but it doesn’t seem to do anything, presumably because this is below the minimum temperature. The Rheem app uses Fahrenheit. Looking at the source code, I see a hard-coded limit to 100.
The odd thing is that the overview shows the temperature in F and lets me set it but when it is set from the automation nothing happens, presumably because the minimum temperature is 110 but the maximum I can use for automation is 100. I have filed a bug on this. Basically I want HA to turn up the temperature of my hot water heater when I am generating excess solar power.
