Setting up Google Actions for Assistant

can we use it in other languages? Like Italian?

@PhilK Iā€™ve just set up from scratch for the first time, but iā€™m getting this ā€œcould not update settingsā€ error as others have posted.

I reduced my client_id length from 32 to 16 chars, but this did not help either.

Any other suggestions, or is there some way you can log this out to help debug?

Thanks

As claudio I to have problems with installing gactions CLI.

Where should i install it? on my rpi running hassbian or just anywhere?

How do i install it?

Did you read the manual?

https://developers.google.com/actions/tools/gactions-cli

Just download the binary.

Hi, I installed it on my windows machine (download the appropriate gactions for windows) , and run the command from CMD.

It worked great!!!

Shall we take the Philips Hue component in Google Home, away? Otherwise is duplicate

This component is cool, it seems is working faster then the emulated_hue.

One question/problem.

In a room I have a Hue light and a switch (broadlink tc2) that controls a light.

Now to turn OFF both light (a light and a switch) I need to give two commands

switch off guest room wall
turn off guest room standing lamp

Why not use group in HA?

I have sooo many groups that I do not want to expose to Google Assistant (cards of HASS with view and without and other groups) because they can conflict with names.

And to custiomize all unwanted group with google_assistant: false would take forever

EDIT: Found solution, make a Room in GH app

@masterkenobi

I guess you are rethinking the Amazon ecosystem in favour of Google?

This GA component opens lots of options!

couple questions (sorry if already covered or obvious):

  1. the URL in https://[YOUR HOME ASSISTANT URL]/api/google_assistant/auth needs to be a WAN URL yes? so i have to open port 443?
  2. related: can a different port be used like https://[YOUR HOME ASSISTANT URL]:PORT/api/google_assistant/auth?
  3. tangentially, will emulated_hue be fixed or is it a lost cause? this looks cool, but iā€™m not keen on opening my hass instance to the outside world unless i have to.

Yes. I am going to try out Google Assistant. I have high hope it will out perform Alexa. My Home Mini is on the way!

My goal now are better speakers. The new Echo at 100$ was very tempting. All nice/good Google Assistant speakers are 200-300-400 ā€¦

I donā€™t like the Google Home sound, and I guess the mini is even worse.

EDIT if only they change the wake up word: hey google or ok google is horrible. Alexa is way better

I ordered the Movboi, but will use less for music, just for automation, should be like the mini

On the final step, my browser redirects quite a lot and then just stops on a blank page and wonā€™t go any further

most probably problems with ports, certificates ā€¦ those things.

With my HASSIO installation and duckdns/letsencrypt, worked without problems

hassio and duckdns too. But really having trouble with ports and certificates.
For the https://[YOUR HOME ASSISTANT URL]/api/google_assistant/auth part I just entered my local IP that hass is running on. Not sure if thatā€™s right

try this (xxx your duckdns account)

https://xxx.duckdns.org/api/google_assistant/auth

Okay, thanks. Iā€™ll try that once I figure out how to get DuckDNS working with my garbage internet setup

yep itā€™s a light!

All media_players are lights?

yeah thats a problem
