Settings menu page is blank

At first, the system wasn't rebooting, so I connected a HDMI cable to check what was going on. The boot up was stuck on some startup jobs and then it was stick on "Waiting for the CLI to be ready..." - the 3 dots were fixed (they are usually animated when everything works fine). Google suggested to reboot the modem. This fixed the bootup issue.

So now I have a web interface, but the Settings menu remains empty despite showing a badge notification that 3 updates are available, while the overview and HACS menus do display the usual content.

Any suggestion as to how to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated.

PS, I have NAS running on the system and it does seem to work as new data is being copied on the storage drive and the shared folders are accessible for a Windows computer on the network (5TB usb storage connected via a 36W powered hub).

Cheers,
Gaetano.

Hitting F12 and right-clicking on the refresh button of the browser and selecting "Empty cache and hard reload" fixed the issue.

I sopke too soon. It did bring up the page content, but after hitting the System option, the same thing happened again, and now even the home page won't load and the HDMI output shows loads of I/O errors on sdb, so I guess there is something wrong with the external hard drive.
