Setup issues with TP-Link Deco mesh network

I am new to Home Assistant and bought a Home Assistant Green hoping that would make the setup easy.

I have a Deco mesh system with two networks running - the main and a guest network. All the devices that I want to control (eg. inverter and home battery) are on the guest network so that they are separated from other devices. The main network is for use by another residence.

When I connect the Home Assistant Green to the ethernet port on one of my satellite Deco’s it is automatically connected to the main network. I can access the Home Assistant interface when I connect my Mac to the main network. What I want to do is then change the Home Assistant Green to access the guest network. The Deco doesn’t seem to give me that option and I can’t find how to change the network in the Home Assistant Green interface. I suspect that I will have to do this by connecting the HA Green via WiFi but I cannot find any way to change the setup of the HA Green to access any WiFi.

Is there a way to do this? Has the latest HAOS has removed/moved the WiFi feature?

Many thanks

Hi - I have mostly bad news:

  • HA Green has no built in radios, no wifi, no bluetooth, no Zigbee. That is why you can’t connect it to wifi.
  • Decos do not allow you to assign any ethernet ports to the guest network. Wifi only.
  • TP-Link Deco when running in Router mode will prevent any connection between guest and main network. If they are running in AP mode you can configure it, but it really defeats the purpose of using guest mode.

You can however connect your HA Green to a wireless AP running in client mode. This will mean that it’s connected via ethernet but has full access to your guest network. One of these will do, or similar:

Thank you so much for answering that. I will try one of them.
