Multiple KNX interfaces in Home Assistant: KNX & Home Assistant for a farm with five apartments and an external sheep shed.
What options do I have to integrate multiple KNX IP interfaces into a HA installation?
If possible, there should be five or more IP interfaces.
As far as I understand, I can only use a single KNX IP interface (in my case an MDT SCN-IP000.03 IP interface with Secure).
What options, hardware or software do I have to integrate multiple KNX lines into HA? Problem details after the project description.
The project:
I am converting a farmhouse for my four-generation family. The original plan to convert a farm with a house, stables and barn was replaced by a complete demolition and new construction.
Five residential units plus common rooms are being built on three floors. The house is to be ventilated via a ventilation system that warms or cools the air as required.
Heating is provided by wood chips, hot water is provided by solar panels, cooling is provided by a chiller supplied by PV. PV system with 25 kWp and 16 kWh storage.
The higher-level control is done with Home Assistant. HA runs on a mini PC with Debian.
The switching actuators, roller blind control, skylight and dimmers are controlled by HA via network cable. Approx. 40x roller blinds, 16x skylights + roller blinds.
Ventilation: approx. 50x individual fans for ventilation and exhaust ventilation with speed control via HA and room climate control.
The PV system is integrated into HA via cloud. Heating via Modbus. Weather station via WiFi. Cameras via Ethernet.
The light switches and sensors are connected via KNX and should be connected to HA. Approx. 120 single and multiple buttons.
Access control: via RFID and fingerprint with KNX + HA.
Leak and pipe burst monitoring via KNX + HA.
Room climate monitoring: over approx. 40x total temperature, humidity, CO2 sensor via KNX + HA
Underfloor heating: actuators by HA via Ethernet.
Hot water circulation: temperature measurement via KNX, pump control by HA via Ethernet.
Presence control: 12x via KNX + HA
Brightness: 6x via KNX + HA
Consumption: meter
Weather station: Ethernet to HA.
Cameras: sheep barn and entrances 3x Reolink Ethernet to HA.
The apartments are in different sections of the house so each apartment should have a KNX line with a separate IP interface. Additionally, a separate line for the stairwell and the heating.
So I would like to have seven KNX IP interfaces that are integrated into HA. What options, hardware or software do I have to integrate multiple KNX lines in HA? Or what other suggestions do you have for reducing the structure to a single IP interface that is visible to HA? Combining the individual KNX lines with line couplers into a single line seems to me to be a bottleneck if more than 200 participants are to be combined into one KNX line.
Thanks for your feedback.
Best regards,
Konrad
