Hi,
I have calibrated my Shelly 2pm Gen 4 in the Shelly-App but Home Assistant still can’t detect how far the blind is open, or rather, I can’t control it in percentages. This unfortunately leads to situations where Home Assistant doesn’t know whether the blind is open or closed because sometimes it’s displayed as closed even when only 50% closed. Does anyone have a solution? I’ve heard of a time controlled way to control the blind folds, but isn’t there a better way to calibrate it?
Add a sensor that measures the actual blind angle into your feedback loop. Everything else is guesswork.
Shelly 2pm gen 2 does this without any issues, via WiFi. Sounds like an integration bug, or perhaps a limitation of the protocol you are using (as gen 4 supports 3-4 protocols). I would not be very surprised if matter implementation was lacking, is this what you use?
Oh yes, sorry, I connected the Shelly devices via Zigbee (that would have been important information, of course). When I initially connected the Shelly devices to my phone via Wi-Fi, the calibration worked perfectly. So it seems to be a Zigbee issue, right? Thanks so much for your quick replies!
Okay, thank you very much. I’m still pretty new to this smart home stuff. What kind of sensor do you mean, and where is it installed? On the Shelly device or the roller shutter’s power supply? Or is it software? Hahaha, I’m sorry, as you can see, I have no idea.
I think so, yes. I’m not using ZigBee though, so can’t say anything more.
Bear in mind I don’t own the Shelly 2pm, so anything I say is based on what I found online…
With that out of the way, there’s 2 possible reasons for this:
- You’ve got an entity card & you’re clicking on the toggle button instead of the name. Cover control for entity cards can only be seen in the more info popup. Post a screenshot of your dashboard card.
- The 2pm is still in switch mode instead of cover mode, or at least HA thinks it is. I know that for Z2M they fixed this by having 2 variants of the 2pm (switch & cover). I’m not sure if that was also implemented in ZHA.
Post a screenshot of the entity name, states & attributes from Developer Tools when your cover is set to 50%
