Shelly Blu Button with other Shelly as BT Gateway

Hi,

have 2 Shelly Blu Buttons working flawlessly with the Shelly app, they use different Shelly Plus Plug S’ in my home as BT Gateways.

How can I integrate them into HA? BTHome recognizes them immediately when I press the Blu button, so far so good, but only when I’m close to the Raspi which is hosting HA. But the Raspi is located in a room in the basement. How can I make HA recognize the Blu Buttons via their configured BT Gateways (the Plug S)?

I know there is a dedicated Shelly BT Gateway (it’s a USB stick device), but all Plus and Gen2 and Gen3 Shellys can serve as BT Gateways as well, so I want to use them.

I didn’t find an answer in this forum and even on Google. Maybe I’m blind… Any help appreciated.

Best regards, Bernd

Afaik the only option is to use shelly script which passes these ble data to mqtt.

The point is, that shellies, while providing ability to proxy those data, have no built-in mechanism to limit it to only selected BLE devices. only when using Shelly Cloud it does that based on information stored during pairing with Shelly App. Otherwise Shelly devices proxy all BLE communication (not BTHome only).

Your script has to be able to process only wanted devices (by MAC) ignoring other devices.

Thanks for your replies! I indeed missed that Settings - Devices & Services - Shelly - Configure button. I just set it to “passive” now and will see if it works, later when I’m back home. Will report here.

Shelly Blu Buttons work perfectly with a Bluetooth gateway of a Plus/Pro Shelly (passive mode) and the BTHome integration

Works perfectly indeed!

Thanks
