Got the solution from Shelly themselves. Have to install Shelly BLU Debug, associate it to the APP/iPhone, then it appears correctly…

What Bluetooth gateway are you using to connect this device? Just an esphome Bluetooth gateway or an actual Shelly gateway?

Nice!
With this solution, can you also change the settings of the sensor or just read the measurement?

@kiwi35 I am also interested in your answer to @crayleb question.

…and one more question. So firstly you need to connect the “distance” to a phone/APP (“Shelly debug”) - and after that connect it to Home Assistant?

I received a Shelly BLU Distance from Shelly USA yesterday and it was discovered by HA the minute I pulled the battery shipping tab, nothing else required. Both the distance and vibration sensor were detected by HA. I have both ESPHome and Shelly bluetooth proxies running on the current (as of today) version of HA, ESPHome, and Shelly firmware.

How fast it is? I wonder if i could use it for car parking in a garage - as “distance from bumper to the wall” sensor. But in that case sensor must be fast and immediate, not, say, every minute or so…

Any chance you could post the exact steps you went through to get this to work please? I have the same issue and have installed the Shelly debug app and followed the steps Shelly support provided. But it doesn’t get discovered by HA. I have a Shelly bluetooth gateway but can not get BThome installed as i get a message when installing it that says “No devices found on the network”. Thanks

My issues seems slightly different.

Vibration and distance are picked up in home asisstant, however distance never updates.

Have installed the debug app, however you can’t do much in that apart from disable vibration.

Okay, after a huge amount of faffing about i’ve figured out something that works for me and actually aligns with a few of the solutions above.

when you turn on the shelly distance the first time ( or after resetting) do not connect it to the shelly app. Connect it only to home assistant.

It then appeared in the shelly app for me, i’m not sure if that’s because it was previously in there or not.

Most of my Shelly devices need to have their ColoT settings changed in their dedicated device ip address settings web page. Not sure what the acronym ColoT is but it seems like the devices then broadcast sensor changes to the IP address set as the ColoT (HomeAssistant).

As others have replied… any details on what this does or the steps required?
