If you have come to this post seeking answers on rather if the addon data will be pushed over zigbee with a shelly gen 4 device I can confirm it does not. This is quite possibly the same for Matter as well but that I cannot confirm.
I feel Shelly has missed a great opportunity in providing smart home users something that no other company provides, at least bundled in a single device. According to a Reddit post Shelly has no future plans to add this capability to the Shelly Gen 4 devices either but the light at the end of the tunnel hasn’t gone out completely yet.
I have made this post to not only answer an important question I had prior to purchasing these devices and could not easily find an answer too but also to implore those of you who like Shelly products such as myself and would like to see more use come out of existing devices than what’s already provided.
If you are unfamiliar with the Shelly Addon it was originally a snap on extension that broke out 3 wires (VCC, DATA, GND) and provided a means of attaching various sensors such as DS18B20 for temperature or a DHT22 for Temp/Humid among other sensors. It was limited on what you could attach but was still a nice addition. I still have a Shelly 1 Gen 1 with addon in service today controlling a garage door along with two reed switches. The new Shelly Addon Plus provides even more capabilities with an additional Digital and Analog support.
Now I realize these devices can be made DIY and for cheaper but many of us still prefer to purchase something that doesn’t require a soldering iron and nearly everything you can connect to the Addon is already available as an end device for Zigbee (except the battery powered zigbee voltage meter which the Shelly 1 Gen 4 w/Addon could do). The ability to have a single Zigbee device push multiple various data as well act as a router would be awesome. I have currently replaced one of the two Shelly 1 Gen 1 w/Addon with a Shelly 1 Gen 4 w/Addon and added a DHT22 as well as two contact sensors and it works perfectly over wifi but would much rather be able to switch it over to Zigbee.
