Good morning, my Shelly Mini 1 PM (4th Gen.) cannot be activated anymore for automations in HA, In the add-on it shows as inactive. However, in the Shely App it can be switched on or off. I also looked into the router settings and everything seams OK. When I load back a back up version of HA Shelly works again but only for a few hours. Sometimes when inactive it goes back online after a longer period of time by himmself. I have a few 1 PMs and all show same behaviour alternativelly - very seldom that all 6 of them work at the same time. Any idea what I could try?
Check the firmware version. What’s in the log?
Your device is up to date.

New development, dont know if it is by chance or not. If I have the 1pm deactivated in HA, after some 30 mins it works again. Can anybody make something up of this bit of information?
It’s possible that your router is “overloaded” (too many Wi-Fi clients) or that some Shelly devices are too far away. I think you could try using another Shelly as a hotspot for those that are often inaccessible. I’ve done this with one of my Shellys with great success. The steps are as follows:
- on a Shelly device with a stable connection and AP function, go to Settings, Access Point and activate AP (set a strong password)
- on a Shelly device with a poor connection, connect it to AP-Shelly
- return to AP-Shelly and click “Advanced,” “Device Clients.” Note the Client-Shelly external IP address and port.
- remove the Client-Shelly from Home Assistant and re-add, using the new IP/port. The device’s web page can also be accessed through this IP address/port
I had problems with Shelly devices overheating and going offline. Can you look at its temperature (should be a sensor), enable eco mode and make sure you are not blocking DNS. Once I removed the DNS block my device stopped overheating.
I had this issue yesterday, telling me that the devices were no longer provided by the Shelly integration. I unplugged the device and plugged it back in and it started working again.
Tones of thanks, It seams to have been working for 12h. One more question please. Does it do any hatm if I set 2 1PMs as hotspot. I have 8 x 1PM Zigbee + 1x Z-Wave?
This shouldn’t be a problem; you can have multiple APs, and each can have several clients of its own. Ideally, each AP should cover a different area to minimize interference.
Also, when updating the firmware on these Shellys, it is probably safer to update the clients first and then the AP (this is from my own experience: once I updated the AP first, then the client was supposedly connected but inaccessible).
Many thanks, One ides: if I am setting up all of them as AP, am I messing up? The reson for the overkill is that all of the Shelys lose connection at some times but never all of them at the same time.
I’m not sure. If I were you, I’d just test it. I don’t have any Zigbee/Z-Wave devices, so I can’t say anything specific. But I think it’s super cool that you can use different APs and still maintain connectivity to HA without having to change any settings.
