Shelly relay to toggle power outlet

Just thought I would share simple project I had for some lights.
I’ve never used a Shelly device as I’ve just never had a project where they seemed to be required.

I had the need to flip a light switch on or off to power the outlet but also control the outlet via ZWave.
Also wanted the on/off status to update in HA whether it was being controlled by the switch or ZWave.

After using this wiring diagram I came up with all works as expected. Toggling switch turns on light. Reflects the same in HA and I can turn it off via ZWave or turn it on via Zwave and off via switch.

Wiring Guide

  1. Power Supply to Shelly 2PM
    Live (Hot):
Connect the Live wire from the power source to the L terminal on the Shelly 2PM.
    Neutral:
Connect the Neutral wire from the power source to the N terminal on the Shelly 2PM.

  2. Manual Switch to Shelly 2PM
    Live to Switch:
Run a wire from the L terminal on the Shelly 2PM to (Live) terminal on the manual switch.
    Switch Output to Shelly SW1:
Run a wire from the (Load) terminal of the manual switch to the SW1 terminal on the Shelly 2PM.
Result: The manual switch acts as an input to the Shelly and does not directly control the outlet.

  3. Shelly 2PM to the Outlet
    Load (Relay Output):
Connect the O1 terminal on the Shelly 2PM to the Live (hot) terminal of the outlet.
    Neutral:
Connect the Neutral terminal of the outlet to the N terminal on the Shelly 2PM (and to the power source’s neutral wire).

  4. Ground Connections
Connect the Ground wire from the power source to the Ground terminal on the outlet and switch.
The Shelly 2PM does not require a ground connection.

Where is the zwave in all of this?

In the Shelly 2 pm the steps mention.

  1. Shelly 2 pm and Shelly Wave 2 pm are 2 different products. Just for clarity.
  2. You don’t need 2 pm for this. This device has 2 outputs. If you just need to control 1 light, you could use one of the cheaper shellies.
  3. This is a standard connection following the instructions that come with the device. They are even printed on the device. How come you say you came up with them…?

Specific instructions for this specific scenario is not on the box. The steps are to help others that may be struggling to do the same. And I’m using the 2 pm for future expansion. You sound like your being a little rude. We’re all just trying to help each other. I’m not trying to take credit for anything. Just putting it out for others that may need it.

I’m sorry, maybe indeed that was rude.

Perhaps you could please clarify your initial post so people are aware what device you are actually talking about.
