Should HA consider #GiveUpGitHub?

This is a question of genuine curiosity.

I recently read about the Software Freedom Conservancy’s advocacy for large open source projects to consider moving away from GitHub (#GiveUpGitHub).

They make some good points about the slow but steady shift in values that Microsoft has brought to GitHub since its acquisition. GitHub itself is proprietary software, Copilot is gradually infiltrating everything and there are legitimate questions about the way in which Microsoft has [arguably] abused well documented FOSS licences to train AI models.

Some of these values seem to clash with Home Assistant values. HA is all about openness, local ownership and pushing against the inexorable tide towards the cloud. GitHub has become as ubiquitous (and therefore difficult to shift away from) as Facebook and their ilk, so SFC makes the good point that change will only come when large open source projects make a stand.

So I am curious: is this something the HA devs / the Open Home Foundation have considered? As one of the largest / most active projects on GitHub, HA could make a real difference.
