Sidebar configuration no longer separate between iOS app and desktop/browser

Hi everyone,

I noticed a change recently in how Home Assistant handles the sidebar configuration between platforms, and I wanted to see if others have experienced the same or if there’s a workaround.

Previously, the sidebar settings (like hiding items or changing their order) were stored separately for the iOS app and the desktop/browser version. This was great, as I could have a streamlined sidebar on mobile while keeping everything visible on the desktop.

However, it seems that now, if I make changes to the sidebar on the iOS app – for example, hiding elements or reordering them – these changes also apply to the desktop/browser view, and vice versa. Personally, I really liked having those settings separate, as the use cases and screen real estate are quite different between mobile and desktop.

Is this an intentional change? And if so, is there a way to get back the old behavior or customize the sidebar independently per device?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, that feature came with the latest version. . Now these setting are permantly stored with the actual user.
Its allways good to read release notes
So, if you require different settings you can use a different login?

i always give them a quick look, so i guess i missed that

It was an intentional change, you can have several workarounds for that, maybe the easiest one is to create two users one for mobile and another one for desktop. Here you have more workarounds.

glad I found this post as it was doing my head in…I even thought I could somehow do this with browser _mod but was struggling…
