Simple light question - mechanical switch - brightness - hue

In one room, have one bulb, philips hue, integration is set up. The light switch is a simple mechanical (power-cutting) switch. The light is off most of the time.

Goal: When the power switch is flicked, to have the brightness of the light be somewhat appropriate to the time of day.

Am not totally inexperienced with HA, e.g have several other automations set up. But I am not sure how to achieve this…

I tried creating an automation (State Change), to detect when the light bulb is turned on, so I can then set it’s brightness. But that hue bulb doesn’t have an “entity”.

What is the correct way to set the brightness on a bulb, that is off most of the time, and the only “trigger” is someone manually flicking on the light switch?

Thankyou.

So it has not been added to home Assistant?

You need to have it in home assistant if you want to automate it.

If you mean It does not have a device_id but it does have an entity_id use the state trigger not a device trigger.
