Since a week or so my Android companion app is crashing or hanging.
I first noticed it because my front yard camera snapshots didn’t come in on the app anymore.
Now regularly i see a notice in Android dat de HA app stopped often.
I emptied the cash restarted the app and restarted the phone few times but the probleem doesn’t go away.
Oh and i changed the persistent connection from never to always tested few days and changed it back and tested again for few days. This doesn’t help either. With both settings the app hangs or crashes after a while.
I’ve found that on some devices - usually larger screened phones or tablets - the HACS WebRTC card can cause instability in the app, especially if displaying more than one camera stream. The app basically freezes and then terminates, forcing you to restart it.
This happens a lot less with the web app on a PC but I also get occasional crashes with Firefox and the WebRTC card as well. Microsoft Edge is similar. Haven’t tested with Chrome or Safari.
The app runs on a Motorola Edge 50 fusion with a 6.7" screen. I don’t watch often live streams and never more then one. But my front yard camera does send regularly snapshots. My HA server captures the snapshots and sends them to my phone Android HA app.
This worked flawlessly for years till now.
Wen the app is stopped and i manually start it again those snapshots start coming in again but after a short while it stops again. And also i see regularly notice popups from Android saying that de HA is stopping constantly.
Don’t know were to look for. I searched and tested several tips i found with google but nothing helped yet.
It looks like I disabled to much notification settings of the HA companion app in the Android 16 settings. Yesterday I enabled them all again and tested the app till now and it works again, the HA app didn’t stop anymore. From yesterday afternoon till now the app is not crashed again. I can not silence the notifications I want or else the HA app crashes.
