Hello - I have had a site to site openVPN set up between my primary home (192.168.1.0/24 and vacation home 192.168.2.0/24) for the past 3 years. I have HAOS (192.168.2.X) running as a VM within Proxmox at my vacation home.
Recently, after upgrading to HA Core 2026.1.X from 2025.12.X and when trying to access the HAOS instance from my primary home (192.168.1.X), I am able to login to my remote HA, but the UI/Dashboard just spins constantly. If I downgrade back to a 2025.12.X version of HA Core, the dashboard comes up just fine. Additionally, I can access the HA dashboard from my vacation home and the dashboard comes up fine.
I have also tried to install a fresh install of HAOS 17.0 at my vacation home and see the SAME issue when trying to access the dashboard from my primary home subnet. I can access the login screen and login, but once logged in, the dashboard just spins. I have tried to clear cookies/cache, access the UI from an incognito window, but all have the same result.
Additionally, I am able to access the HAOS CLI from my primary home as well as ping other servers/PCs at my remote network. This currently leads me to believe I do not have a routing/firewall issue. Rather this seems like it is an issue within HA itself. Any suggestions/information to help troubleshoot would be much appreciated!!
It sounds like your network setup is fine and the issue is with HA or the hardware it is running on.
Try to connect to the Proxmox console of the HA VM and see what it says.
Hi @WallyR - The console connection looks fine. I also ran a core check from the console, which passed. I checked both of the core logs and supervisor logs and didn’t see anything suspect.
Beyond that, I also booted into safe mode and still see the same result when trying to access the dashboard.
I seem to have narrowed it down to something in HA Core between 2025.12.5 and 2026.1.0. I had a backup of a 2025.12.5 version (where the dashboard loads just fine). I also tried to restore from a 2026.1.0 version where the dashboard does not load and just spins.
I know the 2026.1 version had some dashboard changes. Not sure if that had something to do with this or not.
