Hello everyone! ![]()
I'm excited to share a new custom integration I've developed for Home Assistant: SJWater — bringing your San Jose Water utility account data right into your smart home!
What is this integration?
This is a custom component that integrates your San Jose Water (SJWater) account with Home Assistant, allowing you to track and monitor your water usage data directly from your dashboard. The integration scrapes the SJWaterHub website for your water usage. I have found in setup that the website water usage gets updated ever 4 to 6 hours. The integration polls the website once an hour.
Installation via HACS
- Open HACS in your Home Assistant instance
- Go to Integrations → Custom Repositories
- Add the repository URL: GitHub - gdi0110/sjwater · GitHub
- Select Integration as the category
- Install the integration and restart Home Assistant
- Go to Settings → Devices & Services → Add Integration and search for SJWater
Energy Dashboard Setup
- Go to Settings → Dashboards → Energy
- Under Water consumption, click Add consumption
- Select the Water Meter Total sensor
- The integration imports hourly statistics so historical data populates immediately
