Hello guys. I have a slide gate outside. No physical buttons in garage or elsewhere, just a remote (with rolling codes). Gate motor is BFT.
What is the best way to approach this to implement it into home assistant? I have read about ESP8266 relays, but the information I found was not sufficent, plus it basically requires to change the motherboard of the gate motor.
Are you sure it is rolling codes?
If it is really rolling codes, to hack it is not impossible but hard…
First check out if the manufacturer has a gateway/hub for this setup.
On aliexpress you can find single/dual/quad/… relay boards for cheap. Pick one of those, and hook it up to e.g. a D1 mini.
Open up the remote and solder 1 wire on each side of the button. So every button will have 2 wires. Attach the 2 wires to a relay. and repeat the process for the other buttons
So in this scenario it would function as a remote, which means, if the signal is strong enough, I can use it inside of my house, instead of building it in the gate motor?
This makes sense, however, I am probably not gonna do this, because it seems very difficult, especially with little to none wiring experience and no tutorials to help me. Anyway, thank you so much for your help, atleast now I have the idea how it would work. Have a nice day!
