SLZB-06p7U: Bluetooth Proxy mode cannot be enabled (flash error: OTA end fail)

Has anyone successfully enabled Bluetooth Proxy mode on the SLZB-06p7U model, or on any other *U model? When I try to flash the proxy mode firmware through the web interface, I always get the error “OTA end fail,” even with the latest SLZB-OS v3.2.1.

According to SMLight support, the current ESPHome firmware for Bluetooth Proxy mode isn’t compatible with *U models. This seems odd to me (and isn’t noted anywhere), but my follow-up questions to support haven’t received any response.

Has anyone had a different experience with this?

I don’t own one, but the FAQ on the product page for the SLZB-06p7U has a pretty clear warning that if you flash the proxy firmware, you’ll lose Zigbee/Thread.

Yes, of course. This is how I used my SLZB-06 that I had earlier. You don’t lose Zigbee/Thread functionality, just the fancy web UI.
