Slzb-07 router mode how to re-pair to zigbee2mqtt

I updated the router firmware on the slzb-07 USB dongle. I’ve been using it as a repeater/router, not as a coordinator.

Because it was getting a low LQI, I decided to “Forget” the router on zigbee2mqtt thinking that it would just automatically connect. However, it doesn’t!

I was told to go to SMLIGHT web flasher (SMLIGHT FIRMWARE UPDATER) and hit the “reconnect router” button, but when I do, nothing happens. Nothing shows up on my zigbee2mqtt web interface after allowing devices to join.

Is there any other way for the device to go back into pairing mode?

Did you manage to resolve this?

Just to add that I just received the SLZB-07 and faced the same issue using it as a Zigbee Router. Raised a ticket to SMLight and waiting for the next instruction.

Yes I did manage to solve this. What I did (incorrectly) was to enable Force leave which drops the connection from the controller in a not-so-nice way and the device still tries to connect.

The solution is to use a program like Putty or some other serial connection. Then you issue a “network leave” command to the device.

The smlight firmware updater software essentially does this when you hit the reconnect router button (so I’ve been told). I had contacted SMLIGHT about this… got some help but ultimately it was darkxst over at GitHub - darkxst/silabs-firmware-builder: Silicon Labs firmware builder that helped me solve this.

@Apron3130, hi, thanks so much for taking the time to share your solution. Glad to hear you got it working again.

Just out of curiosity, did the firmware update help the low LQI? I just setup my SLZB-07Mg24 tonight. It was very finicky to get going. No LEDs to see if it was working when connected to my computer. The firmware flasher couldn’t pull the current firmware version on my Linux setup or on MacOS, despite installing the drivers needed (it would successfully connect to the unit but couldn’t pull the firmware data from it). I finally broke down and pulled out an old Windows laptop and was eventually able to get the firmware updated. This did require manually installing the driver on Windows, too. The one that Windows automatically installed didn’t work.

Anyway, I did get it connected to Z2M but noted that it does have low LQI which surprised me. Just curious if removing and adding it back helped at all. I’m already running the latest firmware. I’m a little worried about removing it hearing that up had a difficult time adding it back.

FWIW, this USB version was a different experience to the SMLight POE device that I have as my controller. That was a breeze to setup. (In case anything finds this thread later on & is curious about the differences). Thanks again.

Thanks for your help, I’m running into the same problem.

Unfortunately, I can’t get a connection to the SLZB via Putty. Could you explain again in more detail how exactly you did this?
