im looking for smart home light barrier and its surprisingly hard to find. There are some infra red trip wires but none from a know IoT/smart home producer.
I had some succes with taping of the field of vision of a philips motion sensor, but even though it limits the sensing cone without loosing sensitivity, its a relativly wide cone nevertheless.
Sidebar, and out of curiosity - What is a “light barrier” exactly? What does it do? Is that a curtain thing at the window, to block sun light coming into your room, so that you can enjoy your projectors in the dark?
Maybe any link or picture, to facilitate future discussions?
I am trying to visualize here, but likely have missed the target by a mile.
Yes, like the things that @Hellis81 found. or indeed a laser tripwire.
You could probably rig something Arduino based together but I wonder why this doesnt exist. I can imagine some useful applications.
And that not even talking about the limits of motions sensor. My hue motion sensor, which I would count towards one of the higher end models, is reliable and doesnt have a 3 min cooldown like cheaper models, but quick on and off or even counting people coming through a door wouldnt not be possible.
Hi
My garage is very small and is quite common that the car is parked 4cm away from the folded iron door…
Sometimes I park the car and it is not away from the movement area of the garage door, so I have to return to the car, and rear it 2 or 3 cm more.
So, I need to “built a line/wall”, that if it is interrupted the car is not on a safe position and it would turn on a few RED LEDs, when in safe position it would turn on a few GREEN LEDs.
Hi, I have the same problem, and a found this sensor infrared with a ZigBee module. But, it’s necessary buy 10 units. But, it’s possible to do with a ZigBee module.
I just found this on AliExpress: CLP71.054 | Meian Infrared Beam Sensor, IP65 Waterproof, 2 Beam Infrared Detector Alarm, 8 Frequency Conversion, 100M, for Villa Farm Fence https://a.aliexpress.com/_mPezhEF
