Smart IR Builder: The Easy Way to Add Devices in Home Assistant

Something new for Home Assistant users… (and honestly, a lot easier )

Open your Home Assistant instance and open a repository inside the Home Assistant Community Store.

I’ve been working on an IR Builder for Home Assistant because I found the current way of setting up IR devices a bit painful and manual.

So I built something that simplifies the whole process

:bulb: What it does:

  • Learn IR (and RF) commands directly (Broadlink supported)
  • Build your device entirely from the UI (no YAML at all)
  • Automatically creates entities for you
    :point_right: climate, fan, media_player, etc.
  • Export to ARSmartIR format if you still want compatibility

:zap: The best part:
Once you build a device, it actually creates the entity for you automatically .
So instead of going back and manually configuring everything, it just shows up in Home Assistant ready to use.

Example:
You build a TV or AC → boom → entity is there and usable immediately.

:brain: Why I made it:
The default process in Home Assistant works… but it’s long and manual.
This is more of a guided builder approach , quicker and cleaner.

:warning: Just being honest — this is still evolving.
I don’t have every device to test on, so this is very much a community-driven improvement project .

If you’re into Home Assistant, IR remotes, Broadlink, or just want an easier way to build devices — give it a try and let me know what you think :raised_hands:
