Hey there,
First off, I am totally new to Home Assistant and especially this community. Finally bought a homeserver and I ’m still in the process of setting everything up, and how should I put it… Home Assistant can be pretty overwhelming. IKEA, Amazon, HACS, voice assistants, etc., are working quite well so far. However, some time ago, I bought a few Tuya/Smart Life devices, and they are currently driving me crazy—especially the light bulbs. In automations, I can only turn the lamps on and off, but I’d really like to set colors as well.
Unfortunately, that option isn’t available in the default settings, and when I try using the YAML editor, I always get error messages like:
Message malformed: value should be a string for dictionary value @ data[‘actions’][0][‘action’]
I’ve tried generating various codes with Chat GPT and looking for suitable commands here in the forum, but so far, no luck.
In the Smart Life app, I can easily change the bulb colors without any issues.
Am I missing the correct code, or is there some communication problem between Home Assistant and Tuya/Smart Life? I’d be grateful for any help!
If the bulbs (or smart life products) are TOTAL crap I am totally up to buy other stuff to play around.
