I have had this HAN port power meter for a couple of years: Smart Meter WiFi Gateway - SmartGateways.nl and it has been working good except sometimes when I have had power outages. Its running the latest firmware and is sending its data via my MQTT instance to be consumed in HA.
But every now and then when I have power outages, the device itself has issues starting up. It does not connect to my network and the only way to fix it, that I am aware of, is to go out to my power meter and replug it in the HAN port, then it boots up just fine.
Anyone else having a similar problem with this device? The wifi signal is good so it shouldn’t be that.
I have the same device but never had this happening. Did you contact the developer? I have a rather good experience with support (at the time I was asking him about HA docker integrations and got quite some feedback).
I did send them an email Their response was that I should update the firmware (which I have) and to use a separate USB power supply (not possible for me, I do not have an outlet nearby). They also said that the device tries to reconnect to MQTT in 60 seconds intervals. If this fails, I should try and get some logs out of it. But as it only happens intermittently, I don’t see how that would work.
