I am starting out. Successfully added a few door/window sensors and a smart plug and Ikea Tradfri range repeaters.
All sensors are connecting to the MQTT fine, however none are joining via the two mains powered things, the plug and repeater.
Trying now to install new window sensor right next to the smart plug but it is not appearing on the list of devices to pair with.
Why might this be?
They don’t need to connect to the routers with that few devices. Basically, the devices themselves will pick the best route to the coordinator. They will use the router devices should they need to.
You can override this behavior by unpairing the devices and then clicking the dropdown next to the Permit Join button and selecting your router. Then you can pair them directly to the router.
However, this should only be done if you absolutely need to. Further, there’s no guarantee they will stay on the router you assigned them to if they can determine a better route to the coordinator.
